Call for participation in barn owl research
As part of my doctoral research, I plan to assess the fitness and breeding performance of farmland raptor species with a special focus on barn owls. I would like to invite you to take part in this research project, an undertaking in collaboration with the British Trust for Ornithology. This research project is spread over two study seasons (May - August of 2019 & 2020), during which data on body trait measurements, moulted feathers and pellets will be collected from barn owls in the UK (see poster attached). If you survey barn owl nests and are interested in adding to the dataset, please get in touch, we would be grateful for your participation. This research project is one of very few to assess the fitness of breeding raptor populations in the UK. The findings of this research will assist in the management of agri-environmental schemes that are required for the maintenance of farmland raptor diversity. More background information will be duly provided to those confirming their interest in participating in this research project. If you know others who might be interested in this project, please share this email with them. |
